Steel City Secret Cinema Part III, Dark Comedy Edition

PITTSBURGH – Steel City Secret Cinema is pleased to announce the third installment of its film, art and music event at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont on Friday, Nov. 1.

More than 150 guests at the last two events saw Slap Shot and Day of the Dead on the Silver Screen, raising more than $3,000 for the theater and charity (past non-profits include The MGR Foundation and The Toonseum). Part III – the Dark Comedy edition – will not disappoint.

  • Raffle prizes

General admission tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Admission packages – with a poster by Zeb Love included – start at $35. Doors open at 7 p.m. The film will start at 9 p.m. and the prize raffle will start at 11 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early – the first 20 guests with admission package tickets will receive a custom Steel City Secret Cinema t-shirt from Commonwealth Press.

The Hollywood Theater:
The Hollywood Theater is operated by the Friends of the Hollywood Theater, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The nearly 300-seat Hollywood Theater is located in the heart of downtown Dormont at 1449 Potomac Ave.

Originally opened as a theater in the 1920s, the Hollywood Theater is one of the last surviving single-screen movie houses in the Pittsburgh area. Recently renovated, it features a balcony, a large concession area and a lobby with spacious comfortable seating. It is ADA compliant.

Lawrenceville WORKS!
Lawrenceville WORKS! aims to reduce unemployment in the Lawrenceville area by linking residents to job-training and employment services. The initiative is a nonprofit partnership between Lawrenceville United, Lawrenceville Corporation, Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, UPMC Health Plan and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Programs and services available include job search help, job readiness workshops, GED preparation, adult literacy instruction and drivers education training.
