Long-time Whedon fans Keep Flyin’ for Charity

On Saturday, August 11, 2012, a screening of the movie Serenity will bring together local fans for the sixth year in a row, to raise money for great charities.

This event, called “Can’t Stop the Serenity”, which will also include games, raffles, and auctions, will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Orpheus Singing Society at 6301 Butler Street in Lawrenceville, PA. 15201.   Doors open at 7 P.M. for games and pre-movie activities.  Admission is $12 at the door.  Participants who get there before 7:30P.M. will get three free raffle tickets and be entered for door prizes.

Serenity is a space-western sci-fi movie based on a short-lived but high fan base television series in 2002 called Firefly.  Both are previous works of Avengers writer/director, Joss Whedon.  Every year, fans from all over the world volunteer their efforts to coordinate these charity movie and other affiliate events locally, to benefit Joss Whedon’s favorite charity, Equality Now.  Equality Now works for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world.  EqualityNow.org

“People who know and are part of this particular fan base know how loyal and determined these folks are to ‘keep flyin’ – raising money for charity and continuing works based on their beloved television series and movie.    They’ve ‘done the impossible’, and it’s time the bigger fan base of the popular Avengers movie learns about this fandom and the inspiring root works of Joss Whedon.”   ~Michele Trader
