Kaur Dental Spreads Smiles to Local Pre-schoolers in Fox Chapel Area

Dr Kiranpreet (Kiran) Kaur of the Kaur Dental of Fox Chapel is bringing oral health education to preschoolers throughout the Pittsburgh Area. In the Fox Chapel area, her initiatives have reached more than 100 children, and she has plans to see that number grow.

She taught children oral hygiene and care through interactive games at the Waterworks Child Development Center in Blawnox on April 11, 2019. “Almost 10% of US children have cavities by the age of 3. And this number grows to 60% by the age of 5,” said Dr. Kaur. “Cavities can be avoided by following basic oral hygiene principles”.

Dr. Kaur is providing oral education and resources to local preschools on her own. When she arrives at a school, she brings her dinosaur puppet to show children how to brush and floss properly. She also talks about healthy snack options and uses activity books to help engage children as they learn.

“Dr. Kaur is amazing. She does such a great job of making it fun and is a great first impression of a dentist.” a local parent.

Dr. Kaur said “Oral health for children is crucial. And, children who have poor oral health often miss more school and receive lower grades than children who don’t”. She will be visiting other child-care centers and elementary schools as part of her oral health aware for children campaign.

Kaur Dental of Fox Chapel works hard to remove financial barriers to good oral health care, so patients of all ages in the Fox Chapel and its neighboring communities (O’hara, Oakmont, Aspinwall, Verona, Penn Hills, Highland Park, etc) can have happy, healthy smiles. The practice has already greatly expanded the access to affordable dental care to people working in the RIDC Industrial park where it is located.
