Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force Sponsors the Second Annual Pittsburgh Honors Ball: Galaxy II in Observance of World AIDS Day

For Immediate Release – Pittsburgh – In honor of World AIDS Day, Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force (PATF) sponsors the Second Annual Honors Ball, Galaxy II at the Wyndham Hotel in Oakland, 100 Lytton Avenue, on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, from 8 pm until 2 am.

Vogue performers and dancers from across the eastern United States will compete in alternating categories for their share of $3,000 in prizes. Tickets for the event are $20 until 10pm Dec. 6, after which they are $30. Tickets are available at www.patf.org or by calling 412-345-0583. All proceeds go to support Pittsburgh’s ballroom community.

The ballroom community is an underground LGBT subculture largely within the black community. Balls are competitions incorporating a highly stylized dance style called voguing, fashion, and music. Last year, the event drew about 250 people along with participants from as far away as DC competing for awards, accolades, and prizes.

As the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in southwestern Pennsylvania, PATF is dedicated to supporting and empowering all individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and to be relentless in preventing the spread of infection.
