Klaymore is a self-described ‘melodic, thrashing, heavy metal’ group with its roots deep in the Pittsburgh music scene. The line-up of Lee Prisby on vocals/guitar, Jesse Prisby on bass, Bob Moore on drums, and Dan Sudano continues to explode with consistent digital releases and an ever-growing fanbase. Metallica may have begun the ‘young metal attack’ in 1982, but Klaymore is definitely picking up where they left off.

“Klaymore runs the gamut from slow, stoner-y riffage to speedy thrash, and isn’t afraid to strip it down to rock basics now and then.” -Pittsburgh City Paper

“Blistering, old skool metal that breathes some much needed life into a genre that grew increasingly stale and bitter. Klaymore combines an upbeat metal assault with intelligent lyrics.” -Musicians Hotsheet

Although Obelisk was officially formed in May of 2013, the concept had been stirring for years. Attempting to find a suitable outlet for his progressive musical ideas, Ezekiel Kaplan formed and dissolved two bands before finally deciding to move to California, where his drummer friend, Caleb Hay, was himself searching for a new, more challenging and musically fulfilling band. In the San Francisco Bay area the two auditioned a number of guitarists but failed find the right chemistry.

Chatting with friends from Pittsburgh about his failed search, Ezekiel finally realized that his Pittsburgh acquaintance, bassist Devan Procopio, shared his musical philosophy and ambition. They quickly began trading recorded riffs and expanding on each other’s ideas. Ezekiel convinced Caleb to drive with him back to Pittsburgh back in late March of 2013 and soon after, the two began practicing with Devan. The three threw ideas around for a second guitarist but couldn’t seem to find anyone who fit their musical ideas. One night, at a Steven Wilson concert, Ezekiel introduced Devan to his old co-worker Dan Winschel, who shared their love for prog and was looking for a band himself. They scheduled an audition, and after only one jam session it was obvious to all that something special had been discovered.

Havoc Theory is three-piece metal band that has managed to create a powerful, heavy sound through a fusion of 80s thrash metal and newer heavy/death metal. Through their killer performances, they continue to mix what made metal stand out in the past and what makes metal so brutal today.

Currently, the band is comprised of founders Greg Nicosia and Steve Devlin on bass and guitar respectively, and Dalton McQuine on drums. Havoc Theory performs regularly in the Pittsburgh area and has worked with national acts like Buckethead, Mushroomhead, Mobile Deathcamp, Valient Thorr and Joe Stump. In the summer of 2009, Havoc Theory recorded their first demo album at Mr. Smalls recording studio – now they are returning to Mr.Smalls for a homecoming performance not to be missed.

Solar Burn’s brand of metal weaves in and out of the slow darkness of Black Sabbath and the crunchy bite of modern thrash, all while adding a special groove to it all. The instru-metal power trio divides duties as such: guitars are commanded by Stains, bass is given to Funk, and the drums to Russ. The three converge for an awesome aural assault that makes it impossible to stand still.
