The Carnegie Arts Initiative presents The Art of Acting with Cindy Jackson, Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m starting on October 6th at the 3rd Street Gallery, 220 Third Street, Carnegie, PA 15106.
Jackson studied Shakespeare at the former American Youth Shakespeare Academy. Trained as a serious actor, she is also adept at comedy. She has performed in sketch comedy and as a stand-up comedian (most notably in MTVs “Rock the Vote Tour”).
Jackson has studied improv at The Second City and the Upright Citizens Brigade and studied comedic timing with Richard Kline and Alan Arkin. Most recently, she appeared in the 2013 Best of Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project in “The Last Straw” and appeared with Robert Englund in “Kantemir.”
She played Pittsburgh Homicide Detective in the locally shot Pilot for the series “Those Who Kill” and will be a lawyer in upcoming episodes. Jackson is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA.
On stage she has performed with Bricolage Theatre’s critically acclaimed “STRATA.”
In the three hour weekly class running from October to early November, Jackson will teach from the Meisner Technique and Stanislavski Method mostly but will utilize the basics of all acting before branching out to different methods in class. The class will culminate in a performance Sunday, November 17, with an actor’s showcase, where students are encouraged to perform pieces for an audience composed of friends and family.
