For Immediate Release – PITTSBURGH, PA – April 21, 2013 – August Wilson Center Fellow Bridgette Perdue Will Premiere Music Concert “Wake Up And Dream” on May 17, 2013
Where can one find music, dance, live painting, and multimedia all wrapped up in one show? The answer is Wake Up and Dream – a world premiere concert created by August Wilson Center Fellow Bridgette Perdue.
Wake Up and Dream features the original music of Bridgette Perdue, whose Pop/R&B sound is described by the Pittsburgh City Paper as “heartfelt, catchy, and relatable.” This high-energy production is comprised of 20 artists and is filled with real-life stories of individuals working to accomplish their aspirations.
“I wanted to produce something that inspires others to no longer sleep on their potential, or allow circumstances to stop them from pursuing what they really want out of life,” Perdue states. “And I’m looking to do something outside the box. Artists like Alicia Keys have backup dancers in their live performances; why not have some in my own show?”
Perdue, based in Pittsburgh, PA, has entertained audiences across the country, headlining her own shows and opening for national recording acts. Her debut CD was released at the August Wilson Center last year, and she will return to its stage for this kickoff production of the Center’s First Voice Festival.
“The August Wilson Center Fellowship Program has given me the unique opportunity to push my creative limits and fulfill my artistic dream,” Perdue comments. “And it is my desire that after Wake Up And Dream, you feel inspired to make your own dreams reality.”
“Wake Up and Dream” – A Live Music and Art Experience Featuring Pop/R&B Recording Artist Bridgette Perdue – takes place Friday, May 17th, 8PM, at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture (980 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222).
