“Hard Hats & High Heels” Recycled Fashion Show May 31st Features World-Famous Abby Lee Dance Company

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh, Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and Macy’s produce 2nd annual unique fashion show and raise money for the Veterans Build home repair program at Habitat.

PITTSBURGH, PA (May 14, 2013) – A mop head vest. A top made from backpack straps. A dress made from a twister game and CDs. This is a taste of the talent the Art Institute of Pittsburgh will bring on May 31st at the DoubleTree Hotel Downtown Pittsburgh to benefit the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh Veterans Build Program.

The 2nd Annual Hard Hats & High Heels Fashion Show will feature stunningly creative garments almost completely made from material found at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore retail outlet in Edgewood Towne Centre—a store Habitat operates, selling donated new and used goods to the public. The 25,000 square foot warehouse sells building material, appliances, furniture, home décor and more.  All proceeds from the store directly benefit Habitat’s Home Repair and Homeownership Programs.

Prior to the show, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, live music entertainment, and the chance to bid on over a dozen silent auction items, including Pittsburgh Opera Tickets, a Joy Ike House Concert, hotel stays, and several Salon and Beauty baskets.  The show itself will feature approximately 30 unique outfit designs, created by the Art Institute of Pittsburgh students.  Each outfit will be judged by a panel of fashion experts from the Pittsburgh area.  In addition to models donning the creatively recycled outfits, Habitat partner families will also be modeling outfits from event sponsor Macy’s, directly from their Waterfront location.  An added bonus this year is the highly anticipated performance by the World-Renowned Abby Lee Dance Company, made famous by Lifetime’s television show “Dance Moms”.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in two different categories:

$100 VIP Tickets: Exclusive access to pre-show cocktail party in a swanky lounge overlooking downtown, free drink tickets, wide array of gourmet hors d’oeuvres, private live music entertainment, gift bags (featuring Sarris Chocolates, Golf Galaxy gift cards, habitat gifts, Tanger Outlet & Macy’s coupons, and salon giveaways), priority seating along the runway, name printed in event program, and access to silent auction items.

$25 General Admission: Access to silent auction, complimentary cheese and vegetable crudités, and pre-show live music entertainment.
