Interactive Art Event FIGMENT to be Held in Pittsburgh Oct 6-7; Call for Participatory Art Projects Extended Until Sept 23rd

FIGMENT is a participatory, interactive arts event coming to Pittsburgh on October 6th and 7th that will make art come alive and blur the lines between artist and audience. FIGMENT accepts art of all kinds and encourages projects that are fun, family-friendly, and interactive. Free to the public and open to people of all ages and all walks of life, FIGMENT will introduce Pittsburgh to a new way to view and experience art.

FIGMENT Pittsburgh will be held in Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side, surrounding Lake Elizabeth, over the weekend of October 6th and 7th. Events will occur from 10am to 6pm on both days, encouraging visitors to play and engage with art. Participants will dance, paint, craft, sing, meditate, reflect, and more, with dozens of artists and performers. Creative individuals are encouraged to submit a project on the FIGMENT website. The deadline for submissions has been extended to September 23rd.

About FIGMENT:
Founded in 2007 on New York City’s Governors Island with a handful of projects and a few thousand enthusiasts, FIGMENT has grown exponentially into a multi-day, multi-city event that drew over 30,000 participants in NYC, Boston, Jackson (MS) and Detroit in 2011. With the addition of Washington DC and Pittsburgh in 2012, FIGMENT grows to seven cities and continues its mission to offer free, inclusive and participatory art and creative culture to entire communities, removing the barriers of museum and gallery walls and entrance fees.
