‘We Do. (Take Two) An Upper Lawrenceville Love Story’ Seeks Couples for Mass Wedding Vow Renewal May 19

Celebration, Music, Pittsburgh’s Largest Cookie Table to Follow Ceremony

Pittsburgh (May 7, 2012) – Calling all lovebirds from Upper Lawrenceville and across Pittsburgh! The nineteenth class of Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) will host a mass wedding vow renewal and celebration Saturday, May 19, 2 p.m., in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Upper Lawrenceville (the 10th Ward).

Pop Up Pittsburgh:  We Do. (Take Two), An Upper Lawrenceville Love Story, is the fourth in the Pop Up! Pittsburgh series created to highlight a neighborhood in collaboration with its residents and businesses. This year’s event is designed to surprise, engage and bring together residents, and their friends and families, to appreciate the neighborhood’s assets and envision its potential. Couples are invited to make a renewed commitment to each other, and to this vibrant neighborhood. State Senator Jim Ferlo, who serves Upper Lawrenceville, will conduct the vow renewal.

“We are very excited to celebrate We Do. (Take Two) with the organizers of PopUp! Pittsburgh, long-time residents and those who may be visiting Upper Lawrenceville for the first time,” says Lauren Byrne, executive director of Lawrenceville United.  “The event’s design and theme is perfect: celebrating the community’s rich history and tradition while giving it a new and fresh perspective.  This event is truly representative and reflective of the dedication, and passion of the residents and stakeholders who love their community and are working to revitalize it.  We look forward to meeting many who may fall in love with Lawrenceville all over again, and even more who may experience love at first sight!”

Following the nuptials, couples and guests will enjoy live music by the 10th Ward’s own Slim Forsythe and his New Payday Loners, food and drink donated by Upper Lawrenceville’s restaurants, and a chance to contribute to and sample from Pittsburgh’s Largest Cookie Table. Additionally, a documentary created by Pittsburgh Filmmakers students highlighting Upper Lawrenceville will premiere at the event.

“PopUp! Pittsburgh is an integral part of the LDI experience as it provides an opportunity for the class of high potential young leaders to have a learning lab to practice the skills they are learning while at the same time getting them energized and excited about community involvement,” says Aradhna Dhanda, Leadership Pittsburghpresident and CEO.  “We are thrilled with the creativity that this class in particular has brought to the project and can’t wait to see it come to life!”

We Do. (Take Two) An Upper Lawrenceville Love Story will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012, 2 p.m., in the parking lot of the Lawrenceville Goodwill, located at 11852nd Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201. Complimentary parking is available in the West Penn Hospital parking lot located off Butler Street, between 52nd Street and McCandless Avenue.
