For Immediate Release – Pittsburgh, PA – “Just My Imagination” opens Saturday, March 31st – April 28th, 2012 at The Gallery 4 (206 S. Highland Ave., Shadyside, 412-363-5050). The opening reception will take place Saturday, March 31st, 2012 from 7-11PM and will be opened to the general public with complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres provided by The Gallery 4.
The Gallery 4 is open Tuesday through Saturday 1- 8PM .
Danny Devine is a Pittsburgh native with a degree in Fine Arts from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Danny is a prolific illustrator and professional muralist with a background in street art. In the Summer of 2008 Danny held a solo show at Future Tenant gallery titled “Ain’t to Proud to Beg,” featuring a wall-to-wall installation with assemblages of his illustrations and writings. Also in 2008, Devine self-published and illustrated a graffiti inspired coloring book of letterforms called “Alphabetistics.” Since 2008 Danny has busied himself with a number of group and pop up shows throughout Western Pennsylvania and has worked extensively on public murals for the city of Pittsburgh. Most recently, in January, Devine wrapped up another solo show in Pittsburgh – “Heaven with the Lid Off” at Blasfome’s Flagship Store . In the Autumn of 2011, Devine contacted The Gallery 4 about hosting the finale of a year long project which would come to feature an astounding body of work – 365 pieces, of varying size and scope, painted and illustrated one per day.
Danny, on Just My Imagination:
“‘On February 22, 2011, I started an ambitious project to create a new drawing every day for a year. Referred to as my ‘draw 365 project’, it lasted through thick and thin, heartbreak and romance, and travels and triumphs. Quickly after the start, the project started to dominate my existence. What I thought was an easy endeavor led to challenging myself as an artist and more importantly as a person, to adequately tell a story about my day to day life and thought process of a working artist in Pittsburgh, PA. On Saturday March 31st, with the help of the amazing individuals at Gallery 4, I will show the finalized project.”
