City Council Passes Green Plan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – PITTSBURGH – City Council today unanimously passed a new Green Plan for Pittsburgh. The legislation, sponsored by Councilman William Peduto, is a comprehensive plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, and save taxpayers money.

This plan updates one adopted by Council in 2008 under the leadership of the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative – a coalition of local government, nonprofit groups, business leaders, and universities – and Councilman William Peduto.  Version 2.0 outlines what has been accomplished in the past four years and what remains to be done to achieve our greenhouse gas reduction goals.
