Wow. Where do we start? Since October 2009, TITLE TOWN has been holding down every last Saturday of the month, making the Shadow Lounge your “go-to” party spot destination for the funky good word and authenticity that is soul music.
After setting records for attendance at the venue and being voted one of the best dance parties of 2010 by Pittsburgh City Paper readers, TITLE TOWN has secured itself as a staple of Pittsburgh’s music scene and a hedonistic throwback to the days of legendary clubs and long-lost night spots of the ‘60s and ‘70s that featured the music we so passionately play for you every month.
After 2 years, and an all-star line-up of national guests including WFMU’s Mr. Fine Wine, Bump Shop’s David Griffiths, Ann Arbor Soul Club’s Brad Hales and Robert Wells, Big City Records’ Jared “JBX” Boxx, and Daptone’s The Honeydripper, the Lounge continues to be packed with the best soul-loving dancers and drinkers at a Pittsburgh club.
Enough back story. This month, it’s our big anniversary shin-dig and we’re gonna sweat like it’s still summer. To say thanks, the first 100 people through the door will receive a free, limited edition copy of the TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk 45 MIX Vol. 2. Arrive early … the limited edition CD version of our first mix disappeared by 10PM!
We’ve also been diggin’ up some special, anniversary-only heat seekers to mix up into a tight five hour, analog blitz of raucous dance-floor rage. We’ll keep the good times goin’ and goin with brand new spins from Clarence Reid, Nina Simone, Eddie Bo and TITLE TOWN classics from Eddie Kendricks, The Temptations, Etta James and more.
We’ll have drink specials, funky projections, and the Brassero Grill gourmet taco truck parked outside. Don’t forget, you must enter through the Shadow Lounge entrance on Baum Boulevard to get in. There is NO admission to TITLE TOWN through AVA Lounge.
