Beyond Fundraising for Pittsburgh Youths- Common Goal Bridges Local Charity & Business

PITTSBURGH, PA. September 9 – Beyond Self Storage has recently announced their partnership with the Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF), a locally based non-profit established to support the education needs of children experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County. “We wanted to work with a charity based in Pittsburgh, where we could be assured that our efforts would have a direct impact on the community in which we operate,” states Director of Marketing, Lara Anderson.

During the month of October, Beyond Self Storage will be hosting a Drive Thru Change Drive at their three area locations:  Ross Township, Robinson Township, and Mt Lebanon, all funds raised will go directly to HCEF. The captsone event will take place on Thursday, October 10, and will include a live radio broadcast, special appearances and prizes from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, and representatives from Homeless Children’s Education Fund to discuss their efforts and how the community can get involved. Residents of the communities are encouraged to “Drive Thru” the facility to drop off their car change.  On 10/10, Beyond Self Storage will also offer a $10 move-in special at all Pittsburgh locations.

Beyond Self Storage hopes this initiative will be a super charged precursor to HCEF’s Homeless Children’s Awareness Week, taking place the following week, from October 13-19. Anderson expresses, “It is our goal to educate our customers on the needs of the youths in the city and show that we are proud to be and committed to being a long term partner in Allegheny County.”

The Homeless Children’s Education Fund was founded in 1999 and over the years now offer after-school programs, educational mini-grants and field trips, enrichment programs and a teen outreach program. HCEF has operated with the belief that community collaboration is essential in helping the children and youth within that community to overcome the obstacles of homelessness and reach their full potential in life and learning.  This dovetails beautifully with Beyond’s mission, “to protect and care for what matters most.” HCEF’s Executive Director Carlos Carter states, “We believe that everyone has a responsibility to address the problem of homelessness in their communities, and we couldn’t do the work we do without the support of local business partners like Beyond Self Storage. We are excited to partner with organizations who are committed to advancing the education of the education of young people experiencing homelessness.”

Tickets are still on sale for Bierhaus 2, HCEF’s most fun and casual fundraiser. It will be held on Thursday, September 12 at Spirit and will feature an indoor beer garden and fully stocked pizza and salad buffet. Carter is encouraging all to “come out and enjoy this great event for a great cause—hope to see you there!”
