NOTRE DAME CLUB OF PITTSBURGH ANNOUNCES 45TH YEAR OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS FOR PITTSBURGH REGION STUDENTS

April 14, 2018 at the Hofbrauhaus in the Southside

March 28, 2018 (Pittsburgh, PA) – In the early 1970s, the Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh Scholarship Fund began by supporting one student with $500.  Today, we’re proud to say that our fund has grown dramatically, with the Notre Dame Pittsburgh Club now annually awarding over $120,000 to students in the Pittsburgh region.  Some of today’s awards make the difference, financially, to enable students to attend the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN.  In light of the continually rising cost of a quality education, the task of growing the Scholarship Fund remains a high priority of the Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh.

“Our club is focused on supporting our students, alumni and friends of the University.” says Kerry Hagan Boehner ‘93, President, Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh. “Our programming follows the University’s message of being a Force for Good.  Our club offers service projects, Notre Dame game watches, monthly mass and brunch meetings, networking nights, happy hours, student buses, cultural events and career discussions.  Our Young Alumni Coordinator, Katelynn Kelly, recently developed a program called Helping Hands and Football Fans.  We are focused on supporting several Pittsburgh-based organizations with time, talent and treasure.   The club also reaches beyond its local borders, helping others in need.  In the wake of the devastating hurricanes of 2017, the ND Club of Pittsburgh made a $5,000 donation to Catholic Charities for Hurricane Relief to help those in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.”

The Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh’s Spring Fling event will be held Saturday, April 14 from 5:00 – 8:30 PM at the Hofbrauhaus at 2705 S Water Street in Pittsburgh’s Southside.  The Annual Scholarship Fundraiser raffle winners will be announced that evening. This fun, family friendly event includes dinner, desserts, soft drinks, cash bar, DJ and salsa dancing.  The event is $40 for adults and $10 for children.  We will have baskets to win including Farm to Table Western PA, All-Clad Cookware, Basket of Cheer, Camping, Beauty and more. Tickets can be purchased:  pittsburgh.undclub.org/springfling
