For Immediate Release
Allison Park, PA Sept. 4, 2015 – Bobbi Kolonay, owner of Holistic Aging in Allison Park is pleased to announce the addition of our newest team member, Licensed Acupuncturist; Maura Schuster, L.O.M, Dipl. O.M., M.S.O.M
Maura is a native of Pittsburgh. After completing her undergraduate degree at Allegheny College, she trekked to Colorado where she was injured snowboarding. While initially pre-med, her painful and lengthy experience with healing lead her to being treated with Acupuncture, offering the first relief after 8 months of allopathic medicine, and with only 3 treatments. This event and her subsequent struggles proved to be the tipping point in her career path. Maura knew that Acupuncture held the answer for many who seek other means of care, or who have not responded well to ‘traditional’ forms of medicine.
Maura earned her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO in 2007. The 3-year program consisted of over 3,000 hours of classroom and clinical training in all aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine; acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, nutrition, cupping and other bodywork therapies, and western medical pathologies.
For ten years, Maura lived in Denver, CO, providing hundreds of treatments in community acupuncture clinics and an integrative holistic health center. Maura returned to her native Pittsburgh in 2012 working as a health and wellness coach, helping clients to set and reach their goals, until joining Holistic Aging in August of 2015.
