On September 18th and 19th, the nation’s premier festival of new games will come to Pittsburgh for a weekend of city-size fun.

Founded in New York City 10 years ago, the Come Out & Play festival brings play back to the real-world by showcasing the best new street and live-action games from around the world. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the festival is expanding nationally, beginning with Come Out & Play Pittsburgh

Come Out & Play Pittsburgh is a two-day, donation-based festival of games that turns the city into a playground for grown-ups. The festival will feature brand-new sports, street games, and social games on Friday September 18th and Saturday September 19th in Schenley Plaza and surrounding areas of Oakland. Tickets and more information about the festival area available at www.comeoutandplaypgh.org

This year’s featured games include:

  • Circle Rules Football, an incredible new sport with a circular field and a yoga ball;
  • Scattershot, a video game hundreds of people can play at once;
  • Nashville, a real-world wild-west dueling game played with a deck of cards,
  • Counter Squirt, a late-night live-action squirt gun battle throughout the streets of Oakland, and
  • many, many more great new games.

Of the opportunity to bring Come Out & Play to Pittsburgh, festival co-founder Nick Fortungo stated,

Come Out & Play is very excited to make our first move to expand beyond New York and San Francisco in Pittsburgh. City of Play has been a terrific partner of CO&P NYC for many years, and their local events have been models for how we think these kinds of festivals should run. Pittsburgh is a city of smart and thriving designers, and we can’t think of better place to bring CO&P to a new community of public play.”

CO&P Pittsburgh is produced locally by City of Play, a Pittsburgh-based organization that enhances interactions between people, places, and ideas through play, to support healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.
