Local Environmental Organization Hosts Pittsburgh’s First Youth-Led Environmental Summit

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – PITTSBURGH, PA – Youth for Environmental Sustainability (YES) will host a “kick-off” event at the Union Project on Saturday, January 24th, from 1-4 PM. YES, a youth-led environmental advocacy group, is an organization founded with the vision of creating a community of young citizens engaged in addressing environmental issues. The event, an environmental summit, will offer Pittsburgh youth a space to “meet, learn, and act” by networking with like-minded peers, learning about environmental problems, and discovering ways to get involved.  The event will feature a variety of organizations, including GTECH, GASP, Women for a Healthy Environment, Nine Mile Run Watershed Association, and Paddle Without Pollution.  Between opportunities to interact with organization representatives, attendees will have the chance to listen to guest speakers Mark Dixon of YERT and Indigo Raffel of Conservation Consultants INC, participate in raffles and other fun activities, and enjoy free food and refreshments.  Live music will be provided by the Pittsburgh-based band, Pachyderm.  This event is FREE and open to the public.
