10th Annual “LET THEM EAT CAKE!” Event Seeks Cake Bakers and Decorators

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 12, 2015

The Midwife Center (TMC) is excited to announce its 10th annual fundraiser and cake contest, Let Them Eat Cake on Saturday, April 25th at the Pittsburgh Opera. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the event, the theme is: Lights, Camera, CAKE! This year’s Hollywood and movie-inspired theme will encourage bakers and decorators to create beautiful and delicious cakes that remind us of our favorite movies of the past and present.

Entry forms are now being accepted from professional and amateur bakers and decorators for this year’s contest. The deadline for early entry submissions is March 13th (absolute deadline is March 20th). Winners will receive gift certificates to Whole Foods, handcrafted serving plates by Riverside Design and announced in local and Midwife Center media outlets. Entry forms are available at www.midwifecenter.org or by contacting The Midwife Center at 412-321-6880 ext. 208 or r.dingfelder@midwifecenter.org.

The event will be held from 7:30-10 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Opera. Professional and amateur bakers are invited to submit their cakes to be rated by a panel of expert judges. Event attendees will also vote for the People’s Choice Awards for Best Taste and Decorated Cakes. The event will also feature a wine and beer bar, refreshments, silent auction and musical entertainment, and a VIP reception immediately before the main event. Net proceeds will benefit The Midwife Center, Pittsburgh’s only licensed and freestanding birth center.
