Revv Oakland Kicks Off Partnership to Benefit Technology Startups at Happy Hour Event

REVV OAKLAND KICKS OFF PARTNERSHIP TO BENEFIT TECH STARTUPS AT HAPPY HOUR EVENT

PITTSBURGH—22 Oct., 2013– Revv Oakland, the Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID), and Oakland Real Estate will introduce Startup Oakland at a kickoff event on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 from 4-7 p.m.

Revv Oakland, located at 122 Meyran Avenue, will host a night of tech, tours, and delicious food, featuring brews and bites from Oakland’s favorite restaurants, music by DJ SMI, and more! On the guest list are employees of major Oakland institutions, OBID members and entrepreneurs with startup potential, making this an opportunity for both networking and entertainment!

“This event kicks off Startup Oakland, the result of our partnership with Revv Oakland and Oakland Real Estate,” said Georgia Petropoulos, Executive Director at OBID. “This exciting public-private partnership is a key component to the transformation of the already vibrant and valuable neighborhood of Oakland into a hub of startup activity.”

The event will highlight current tenants of Revv Oakland and the benefits of locating technology startups in Oakland, one of Pittsburgh’s hottest tech scenes. Throughout the night, program attendees will have the opportunity to tour three of Revv Oakland’s technology spaces, and get a sneak peek at plans for a fourth location that will open in 2014.

“Revv’s vision is to see Pittsburgh on the short list of go-to destinations for aspiring entrepreneurs, and our corresponding mission is to help early-stage companies grow faster,” said Mark Musolino, Founder of Revv Oakland. “The Startup Oakland initiative is a natural extension of this effort, and serves as a catalyst for the process by connecting Revv to Oakland’s wide variety of stakeholders and resources.”

Startup Oakland is a strategic partnership between REVV Oakland, OBID, and Oakland Real Estate that promotes the Oakland neighborhood as a technology hub of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. The three partners work together to provide resources for expanding startup businesses into Oakland, including technology assistance and affordable work spaces for entrepreneurs to be able to build, plan and grow their businesses. Grant funding for this project is provided by the Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood Development.
