THE VOGUES TO PERFORM AT KEAN THEATRE AUG. 4

Aug. 4 concert is part of the Kean’s “Summer of Fun Concert Series”

GIBSONIA, Pa. (Richland Twp.), July 6, 2012 –The Kean Theatre, 5847 Meridian Road, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a season of award-winning plays and musicals, hilarious interactive dinner theatre and popular concerts including The Vogues. Show time is 8 p.m. August 4.  Cost is $29. The Kean Theatre is now inviting theatre goers to enjoy a delicious dinner on-site in the elegant Mount Vernon Restaurant before each show at 6:30 p.m.; cost for dinner and the show is $51. Chuck Blasko and The Vogues are performing at the Kean for the eighth time with all previous concerts sold out. Those interested in attending are encouraged to buy their tickets early.  The Vogues got their start in 1958 as students at Turtle Creek High School.   Well-received locally, they soon were thrust into the spotlight when their early recording, “You’re the One,” gained national airplay.  Between 1965 and 1969, the Vogues had 14 hits, four of which made it to the Top 10.  Oldies fans will recognize “Turn Around Look at Me,” “5 O’Clock World,” “My Special Angel,” “Till,” “No Not Much,” “Magic Town,” and “Land of Milk and Honey.”   The Kean Theatre’s intimate setting guarantees each audience member the chance to see these spectacular performers up close.

The Vogues are the third of four shows performing in the Kean Theatre’s “Summer of Fun Concert Series.”  Wrapping up the “Summer of Fun Concert Seires” is Pure Gold at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18. Sponsors of The Vogues are UPMC Health Plan, the Academy sponsor of the Kean Theatre. Northern Connection is the Grammy sponsor and Schellhaas Funeral Home is the Box Office sponsor.Proceeds from the Kean Theatre benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2011 alone provided more than $5.2 million to poor and low-income residents at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas.
