Early Registration For St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk Fast Approaching

GIBSONIA, Pa. (Richland Twp.), July 17, 2012 – The St. Barnabas Medical Center 5k Run/Walk will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 along Meridian Road in Richland Township.  Early registration is $16 by July 27. Serving as the 5K’s celebrity co-emcees will be Trisha Pittman, traffic anchor on WPXI-TV, and Larry Richert, morning host on KDKA Radio.  Last year’s 5K attracted nearly 900 participants, and the goal this year is to surpass 1,000 participants. Corporate teams of up to five runners are encouraged to participate!

Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which in 2011 alone provided nearly $5.2 million to poor and low-income patients at St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods at St. Barnabas and The Arbors at St. Barnabas.

The St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K follows an out-and-back course along the rolling terrain of Meridian Road.  Runners are timed using a ChampionChip device provided by The Runner’s High Timing Services and the course is certified by USA Track and Field.  Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three males and females in 16 age categories.  Medals will be awarded to the top three corporate teams.  Again this year, the race will include medals for master (age 40 and above) and grand master (age 50 and above) divisions.
