Building Our Region’s Future: Councilman Peduto and Carnegie Mellon to Unveil Master Plan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Tuesday, April 24, 2012 – PITTSBURGH – Today, Councilman William Peduto will join Carnegie Mellon in announcing a new Master Plan for Development at Carnegie Mellon University. The plan which will receive final approval from City Council on Wednesday outlines plans for hundreds of millions of dollars of economic development in the next ten years. The Master Plan includes development proposals for new academic, athletic, recreational, and residential buildings.

The Master Plan, which has already received approval from the City Planning Commission and preliminary approval from City Council was developed over two years through over a hundred meetings with community groups, student groups, faculty and staff committees, and outside consultants.

“The Carnegie Mellon Master Plan is at the heart of our region’s economic development for the next ten years,” said Councilman Peduto. “This plan will create jobs, retain students in Pittsburgh, and allow Carnegie Mellon to continue its growth as a worldwide academic leader.”
